Acoustics: The Littmann Select stethoscope offers single sided listening for both low and high frequencies (bell and diaphragm combined). Its the perfect, affordable stethoscope to meet your general examination needs.
The Select stethoscope provides outstanding response in both high frequency and low frequency ranges. Its excellent overall acoustics offer an advantage to health care professionals when listening to heart, lung and blood pressure sounds.
Unique Tunable Technology: The Select stethoscope's patented design allows you to listen selectively to low or high frequencies without having to turn over the chestpiece. Both bell and diaphragm are incorporated into a single-sided chestpiece. To hear low frequency sounds (traditional bell-side sounds), you simply use light contact pressure on the skin. Traditional stethoscope diaphragms are designed to filter out low frequency sounds so that high frequency sounds can be heard. While many practitioners use the diaphragm to listen to low frequency blood pressure sounds, the clarity is compromised. The Littmann Select diaphragm, however, is designed to pick-up low frequency sounds, such as S3, S4 and those made by blood pressure, when using light pressure. The low profile chestpiece is designed to fit comfortably under blood pressure cuffs.
Comfort: For your comfort and control, the chestpiece is "finger-contoured" for a secure hold. The lightweight chestpiece, eartubes and eartips also make this stethoscope comfortable to wear. The eartubes are set at the proper anatomical angle so they don't need readjusting. You may adjust the headset tension simply by flexing the yoke. The new snap-tight eartips remain secure, yet may be easily removed for cleaning or replacement. The chestpiece of the Select stethoscope features a non-chill rim for patient comfort.
Durability:The durable, cast chestpiece assures long-lasting performance. It is protected with a satin, scratch-resistant finish that will endure everyday wear and tear. The single-lumen tubing makes the Select stethoscope very portable and less bulky than many double tube stethoscopes. A patented double-leaf binaural spring inside the tubing (unlike Sprague-Rappaport-type scopes), maintains proper headset tension to ensure a long life and improved acoustical seal.
Warranty: The Select stethoscope is backed by a two year warranty. The warranty is provided by 3M Health Care.
